The 2nd Annual Art on Main Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 21st and 22nd, in
the historic district of downtown Fort Mill. The fine art and master craft festival is sponsored by the Fort Mill
Downtown Association. The festivities will kick off on Friday with an Artists’ Reception. The festival itself
runs from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Local and regional artists and craftsmen will feature a
variety of items, such as original paintings, pottery, ceramics, leatherwork, hand-made jewelry, and stained
glass for display and purchase. An art competition will be held in various categories, including fine art,
master craft, and student art. In addition, there will be food vendors, live entertainment, children’s activities,
and door prizes.

The Fort Mill Downtown Association is proud to feature a Premiere Unveiling at this year’s festival: the
first ever painting of the United States Capitol Building. The Capitol Building was completed in 1802, but did
not have its likeness put to canvas until 1986. In addition to this exciting unveiling, many facts about the
painting will be revealed at this year’s festival, including its personal ties to South Carolina. Color prints of
the United States Capitol Painting will be available at and following the Art on Main Festival, courtesy of Ron
and Katherine Harper. Proceeds from the prints will go to Move Fort Mill Forward, a task force created
through the Fort Mill Downtown Association to support the revitalization of downtown Fort Mill.

Prime Sponsors for this year’s event include the Town of Fort Mill, the Fort Mill Times, Ron and Katherine
Harper, Alltech Sign Company, Harper Marketing Systems, and Harper Corporation of America. For more
information about the festival, visit the Fort Mill Downtown Association website at
www.fortmilldowntown.com,
or call 803/547-1002. The event will be held rain or shine, and plenty of parking will be available. Come out
and enjoy a day of fun, good food, and great arts and crafts in beautiful downtown Fort Mill, South Carolina.
