The motto at Harry and Jean’s is “Passionate American Food,” and they are definitely true to their word.
Take it from someone who’s visited both Charlotte area locations many times … the food and staff perfectly
reflect that approach to cooking. According to their website, “Harry & Jean's food is based on home style
meals, each with an upscale flair to distinguish its presentation.” Every dish I’ve enjoyed during my years of
patronage lives up to this statement. From the Fresh Salmon with Bourbon Blaze Butter Sauce, my
personal favorite, to the House Made Lasagna, you will leave feeling satisfied, comforted, and pampered all
in the same meal. That is hard to accomplish on one plate, but the touch of elegance that is placed on
home-style comfort dishes does just that.
Ralph Meranto, Owner/Proprietor of Harry and Jean’s, developed the  restaurant concept from the family
meals and special occasions of his childhood. He has a real passion for food, and has been sharing that
excitement  through  food  service  since he was sixteen years old. He has incorporated many elements of
his family into the restaurants. The names “Harry” and “Jean” are family names, and the color schemes and
characteristics of the restaurant décor are inspired by his grandparents’ home. The incorporation of these
items and the caring attention to detail make you feel as if you’re dining in someone’s home rather than a
restaurant. It’s warm, comfortable, and very nostalgic ... and all of these elements set the stage for an
enjoyable dining experience.
I personally like the fact that there are two locations in the Charlotte area, both in distinct, convenient
areas. First, you have the Uptown Charlotte location, at 201 South Tryon Street, which provides a chic
atmosphere in the heart of Uptown, where you can enjoy a glass of wine after work, or treat someone
special to an elegant dinner before hitting the streets for a night out on the town. Next, you have the Rock
Hill location, at 1940 Cinema Drive, which provides an upscale feel in a relaxing, retail shopping area,
where you can enjoy a nice dinner out, followed by a movie, or drop in for Sunday brunch before shopping
the afternoon away. Harry and Jean’s recently even added a third location in Canfield, Ohio, proving yet
again that their approach to the restaurant business is a successful one.
Both Charlotte area locations feature live Jazz music certain nights of the week, and a full lunch menu
during the day. Also, a favorite is the Sunday Jazz Brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., which offers
delicious items such as Harry’s Omelet and Eggs Chesapeake. Reserve seating is available at both
locations, and a listing of the live entertainment schedule, menus and restaurant hours is available on their
website:

No matter which Harry and Jean’s location you choose to visit, or whether it’s for brunch, lunch, or
dinner, you won’t be disappointed with the atmosphere, food, or service. Ralph Meranto and his staff truly
are passionate about food, and they will make you passionate about Harry and Jean’s.
