Sommer Cotton is the owner and President of Stork News® of the Carolinas. Sommer lives in Fort Mill,
SC, with her husband, Charles, and their 2-year-old son, “CJ” (short for Charles Cotton, Jr.). The
Cottons, like many area families, are “transplants” to the region. They enjoy Fort Mill and the
surrounding area because it reminds them of their small hometown in Alabama , and they love the idea of
raising children here.
When asked why she started her business, Sommer said, “In preparation for the birth of my son, CJ, in
October, 2005, I received a Stork News® brochure in my hospital packet. My husband and I immediately
pre-ordered our stork. It was such a fun way to announce the birth of our son, and the adorable stork
perched on the front lawn brought many smiles to our faces during our first days home. I was immediately
hooked on the concept of Stork News® and purchased my franchise in the Spring of 2007.”
Sommer says that she “loves being part of welcoming new babies into the world… sharing one of the
happiest times in every mom’s life. As a mother and a business professional, I want to make every
customer’s experience with Stork News® an enjoyable and valuable one. I appreciate new moms allowing
me to be part of their special time.”
Stork News® of the Carolinas specializes in 8-ft stork yard signs (which feature keepsake bundles,
personalized with the new baby’s name, birth date, and weight) as well as birth announcement
accessories including bows, balloons, cigars, banners, and personalized candy bars. You may have also
